Eternatus VGC Guide
Dynamax Cannon Poison-Dragon Doubles Analysis
Regulation I Dual-Restricted | Poison/Dragon | Eternal Body | Base Speed 130
Base Stats Overview
145 SpA + 130 Speed are Eternatus’ key advantages — it outspeeds most restricted legends. Eternal Body prevents stat reductions (like Intimidate), keeping its SpA permanently stable.
EV Spread Recommendations
Standard SpA (Choice Specs)
TimidMax SpA + Max Spe, Dynamax Cannon OHKOs most targets under Specs. Base 130 Speed outspeeds most restricted legends.
Bulky (Assault Vest)
ModestMax HP bulk build. SpD investment helps survive special restricteds. Suits bulkier team archetypes.
Speed Nuke (Life Orb)
TimidMax Speed for priority, Life Orb provides flexible high damage. HP EVs reduce recoil percentage.
Move Analysis
Signature Dragon Special move, doubles power (200) against Dynamaxed targets. In Reg I standard doubles still exceptional Dragon STAB damage.
Poison STAB covering Fairy-type restricteds (key against Zacian). 30% poison chance adds residual pressure.
Coverage against Steel-types (partners’ Steel support). Fills Dragon/Poison type coverage gap.
Standard doubles Protect. Preserve turns to read opponent moves and let partner handle threats.
Alt slot: covers Psychic types (Calyrex-Shadow, Ghost-types) that resist Dragon.
Tera Type Options
Boosts Sludge Bomb and gains Fairy immunity — strong against Zacian-heavy teams
Boosts Dynamax Cannon STAB for maximum Dragon damage output
Shifts type chart: Fairy immunity + Poison immunity at cost of both STAB bonuses
Immunity to Normal and Fighting moves — defensive pick against heavy priority environments
Recommended Partners
Koraidon + Eternatus dual Dragon core. Koraidon handles Fairy threats with its bulk; Eternatus fires freely.
Zacian’s Fairy/Steel covers Dragon-type matchups; Eternatus’ Sludge Bomb handles opposing Fairy-types against Zacian.
Intimidate reduces physical threats; Fake Tears lowers SpD to boost Dynamax Cannon damage.
Spore shuts down back-row threats so Eternatus’ high Speed fires first; Regenerator sustains Amoonguss.
Key Battle Tips
Eternal Body is Eternatus’ core advantage: lead into Incineroar and fire Dynamax Cannon freely — remember this prevents SpA drops, not Atk drops (Eternatus is special anyway).
Sludge Bomb is essential for Zacian: base Zacian (Fairy/Steel) resists Poison, but Tera Fairy Zacian loses Steel typing and takes 2× from Sludge Bomb — read the Tera carefully.
Speed 130 outspeeds most Reg I restricteds, but Calyrex-Shadow (222) and Swift Swim/Chlorophyll boosted opponents are faster — always check speed tiers before committing vs fast teams.
Ground weakness (×2) is Eternatus’ main liability in doubles: partner with Tornadus or Levitate Pokémon to avoid friendly-fire Earthquake and cover that slot.
Type Weaknesses
Eternatus (Poison/Dragon) weaknesses:
* Poison and Fairy have mutual coverage: Eternatus’ Poison moves hit Fairy super-effectively, and its Poison type resists Fairy moves — excellent type synergy.
